Week 1 – Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine

The parts and functions of a sewing machine
How to thread a sewing machine
Winding and inserting a bobbin
Choosing the correct needle
Basic machine maintenance
Sewing straight and curved seams
Controlling sewing speed

Week 2 – Understanding Fabric & Basic Construction
Students will learn:
Different types of fabric
Choosing the right fabric for your project
Measuring and cutting fabric
Pinning and clipping techniques
Seam allowances
Pressing techniques
Finishing raw edges

Week 3 – Sewing with Confidence
Students will learn:
Easy construction techniques
Sewing multiple pieces together
Topstitching
Turning corners
Creating clean finishes
Simple sewing techniques you can use again and again
Tips and tricks that make sewing easier

Week 4 – Creating Your Signature Project
Bring together everything you've learned as you complete one of Angie B.'s signature projects.
Students will learn:
Planning a sewing project
Professional finishing techniques
Pressing for a polished look
Troubleshooting common sewing challenges
Building confidence to continue sewing at home

Sewing Machine Suggestions
Students are required to bring their own sewing machine to each class.
Learning on your own machine helps you become familiar with its features and builds confidence so you can continue sewing at home after the course.
If you do not currently own a sewing machine, we recommend one of the following beginner-friendly models:

Once your registration is complete, you will receive a class supply list with everything you'll need to bring to class, along with additional class information to help you prepare for your first session.
